For Those Baffled by Leftist Fury, a Primer

Or why can't Screaming Johnnie (Theyster/Theminpugh) debate rationally?

Radical social movements often appear seemingly out of nowhere, to the great surprise of many. Often the proponents of a radical change have acted quietly for years to bring about an outcome that seems to have arisen spontaneously. More often - since people are awful at keeping secrets - the people striving for radical change have been spouting their fringe (statistically speaking) views for years, but no one in the mainstream society paid any attention.

For at least one hundred years, the general division in American sociopolitical life could be characterized as a tug of war over how the results of free economic activity should be divided. Generally speaking, those people who deployed their capital to create jobs by hiring people to perform productive work were driven by the conviction that totally free commercial arrangements were the only way to run a business and therefore a country. On the other side of that binary relationship were the people who traded their time and effort for money and other goods.

The providers of jobs - let’s call them capitalists, industrialists, entrepreneurs - were clear in saying, “I predict that given all the investments I have made in land, buildings, equipment and material inputs, I can make a profitable business out of using those real assets if my operating expenses are kept to a reasonable level. I need to hire ten machine operators and I can only make a profit if I pay them on average $2 per day. Less is better because competitors may try to undercut me in the market, so I’d prefer $1.50. I’ve offered potential workers $1.50 and given today’s currently tight labor markets, I ended up paying $1.95. Great - let’s go work hard, everyone.”

The workers who took those jobs were also clear in saying, “If an employer hires a worker for $5/day, it is unacceptable for that employer to cheat that worker by saying after two weeks, ‘well, I think you slacked off and didn’t do the job I thought you’d do, so here is $25 for ten days of work - take it or you’re fired.’” Along with keeping good faith contractually, employees demanded of their employers an honest relationship relating to working conditions and reasonable opportunities for advancement.

That framework is shattered. The modern Left has nothing to do with intelligent debates about how to divide the economic pie. The modern Left is about absolute totalitarian control over every aspect of your life, and the best way to achieve that control is by literally controlling your thoughts, actions and speech.

There is no mystery here for those of us who have paid close attention to intellectual trends in the social sciences. The more American Leftists studied Marx or - more accurately - Marxist and Marxian thinkers, the more they began to adopt the policy tenets of Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Castro, Chavez, FDR, Obama et alia.

Core to those tenets is the demand that objective reality be replaced by ideological indoctrination. For normal (I mean statistically), rational people who wonder why on earth a small coterie of Leftists will lose their minds over some minor social "slight" that did not even EXIST a few years ago like "deadnaming" or "misgendering," it is because the lockstep thought control is what matters, not because Leftists care about a given individual's right to be called what they want.

Leftists care about group identity and disdain individual rights. But watch closely - because once again, they don’t define a group in any way that is rational, reasonable or recognizable to normal people.

Nowhere has this been more evident than in the multi-vehicle car crash pileup that is Modern Leftism meeting Feminism. Is there anything more insane than people championing a woman becoming a Supreme Court Justice while that very same judge during her confirmation hearings is literally unable to define “woman?” The current President of the United States made it a priority on DAY ONE of his time in the Oval Office to allow biological males to complete against biological females in college sports.

We have watched that debacle unfold, with our jaws dropped to our knees as a young man stole the fruits of victory from young women who spent their lives training as competitive swimmers. To add a big, public middle finger to the insult, the ultra-woke and hopefully therefore going broke University of Pennsylvania nominated this young person as the NCAA Female Athlete of the Year.

I have no need to pile on with identifying this person who I can only assume is going through an extremely trying time in life, grappling with issues of identity and whatnot. The point that concerns us all is not one statistically insignificant medical or psychological issue experienced by one person, but the attempted destruction of societal norms in the name of…. what, precisely? The Leftist lunatics pushing this bizarre assault on womanhood - who are doing this across the spectrum of society, demanding that the word “mother” be replaced on the floor of the US House of Representatives by “birthing persons” - don’t give one solid damn about the collegiate athlete in question; they are here to destroy normal society for their own, potentially inchoate, ends.

Each time a parent concerned about their job, or a female swimmer who got silver instead of gold because she raced against a man dressed in a female swimsuit decline to speak up about this madness, the Leftists notch another win in their Thought Control Wars.

Theodore Dalrymple stated this phenomenon eloquently:

“Political correctness is communist propaganda writ small. In my study of communist societies, I came to the conclusion that the purpose of communist propaganda was not to persuade or convince, not to inform, but to humiliate; and therefore, the less it corresponded to reality the better. When people are forced to remain silent when they are being told the most obvious lies, or even worse when they are forced to repeat the lies themselves, they lose once and for all their sense of probity. To assent to obvious lies is in some small way to become evil oneself. One's standing to resist anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed. A society of emasculated liars is easy to control. I think if you examine political correctness, it has the same effect and is intended to.”

Hence the Leftist mob does not hesitate to destroy a career and a life over some trivial nonsense. What is one life sacrificed for the Greater Good? Of course, that "logic" led to hundreds of millions of deaths under Communism, but, you know, details.

Fight back, rational people, whether you lean left or right in the normal channel of political opinions. If the lunatics take over for good, we're all doomed.
